Al Sonja Schmidt

Whether she’s writing for primetime comedy television series including Fox’s In Living Color, NBC’s Hidden Hills, or popular children’s programming including, That’s So Raven, City Guys, the Famous Jett Jackson, Al Sonja L. Rice-Schmidt’s ability to bring stories to life is undeniable. She has also produced and written a variety of Image and Prism Award winning programs, as well as Emmy nominated television programs. Her experience spans a wide variety of comedy genres including, feature film, sketch television series, animated television series, single and multi-camera television series, and radio.

Now after over a decade in the business, Schmidt is tackling the world of children’s literature with her book, Deb & Seby’s Real Deal on Global Warming. Having worked on numerous children’s shows, including her current position as Co- Executive Producer on the highly popular new Disney series, Cory in the House, her foray into children’s book writing is a natural progression of her career. Schmidt plans to continue to present the other side (or, real deal) on a variety of other hot topics that impact today’s youth with her Deb & Seby book series. -- Schmidt was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, attended college in quaint Fort Collins, Colorado as a dance major, spent most of her subsequent years as a performer, dance instructor and single mom. She currently resides in the scenic Los Angeles National Forest area of the Antelope Valley with her husband and two golden retrievers, Waylon and Indy.
